Multiple Injured as Rough Air Hits A Delta Airlines Flight Landing at Sydney, Australia

Delta Airlines reported the aircraft went through "brief turbulence" as it touched down at its destination.

Several people sustained injuries following a Delta jet from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia was hit by rough air this past Friday.

Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it landed at Sydney Airport, a company official told. A number of the onboard staff sustained injuries.

Emergency medical services said they evaluated a total of five people, and transferred three to the hospital with relatively minor issues that such as pain in the back and headaches. The patients' ages spanned from their 30s to 70s.

This marks the most recent case of planes encountering turbulence, with aviation specialists saying that global warming is a major factor.

The aircraft was carrying 245 people and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the representative noted, clarifying that the plane landed "safely and normally" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on the day in question.

Paramedics said they received a call just three minutes before the plane arrived, and response teams were waiting on the tarmac.
